During EduCon, we invite you to participate in the Maritz Global Events Wellbeing Challenge powered by Heka Health. This year’s Challenge gives you the opportunity to get to know your fellow attendees and focus on taking good care of yourself by concentrating on the Maritz Global Events 5 Dimensions of Wellbeing both live and digitally. Registration is easy!

Join in the fun and win prizes just for taking care of yourself during EduCon!

The Wellbeing Challenge starts on Wednesday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m. MST (Phoenix, AZ) and ends on Friday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. MST (Phoenix, AZ).

1) Download the "Heka Well" Challenge app:

2) Complete the registration and pairing process:

  • Launch the Challenge App and select "PCMA EduCon Wellbeing" from the list 

  • Complete the in-app registration process

  • Pair your supported activity tracker (see the Challenge FAQ for details)

3) Start Stepping:

  • To sync your step data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the dashboard

  • Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your tracker

  • Please sync your activity tracker at least one time every 24-hour period and before your Challenge end time to make sure all your steps count!

All participants that reach a cumulative step level goal (listed below) by the end of the Challenge will be entered into drawings for a chance to win a prize. If you reach 50K step goal, you will be entered into both the 50K and 25K drawing.

A Healthy Experience

 

We know you will be immersed in the EduCon experience either digitally or live and we have designed this Challenge for all to participate and engage with each other. Whether you are at home or in Phoenix, the Wellbeing Challenge incorporates many of the EduCon activities and your own activities to push you the top of the leaderboard and keep you healthy throughout EduCon. 

 

There are several ways to increase your steps thru Bonus Activities. These activities are based on the Maritz Global Events’ 5 Dimensions of Wellbeing to help you think specifically about the many aspects of your life and keep it all in balance.

 

For bonus activities below that state "Scan-In for Bonus Steps", use the in-app scan-in module to either scan or manually enter the code at the locations listed to receive your bonus steps. The other bonus activities listed automatically award bonus steps upon completion of the activity.

NOTE: We have identified activities for the Live Audience (L) and for both Digital and Live Audiences (DL).  

1. Personal Wellbeing  - Caring for yourself

Get Fit with the Foundation (L)

  • 5K: Thursday, July 8 6:30 am – 7:30 am

Location: Sunset Terrace

Scan-in for Bonus Steps: 1,000 steps

  • Namaste with PCMA: Friday, July 9 7:00am – 8:00 am

Location: Sunset Lawn

Scan-in for Bonus Steps: 1,000 steps

 

Wellbeing Lounge:  Join us in the Hub during the break times to focus on you. Join us for either a 20 – minute meditation or chair yoga class and earn bonus steps with Office Meet Yoga (L)

Location: The Hub - Grand Canyon 6

Scan-in for Bonus Steps: max 1 per day x 1,000 x 2 days = 2,000 steps

Massage Lounge: Take care of you via relaxing massage and earn bonus steps with BodyWorks.  Did you know the massage is one of the most powerful tools to help you relax and refocus? Try it and see. (L)

Location: The Hub - Grand Canyon 6

Scan-in for Bonus Steps: max 1 per day x 1,000 x 3 days = 3,000 steps

Gym Plus: Utilize the hotel’s health and wellness activities to earn bonus steps.  Activities include Tennis, Pickle Ball, Bike rental, Walking maps, Pelton Bikes, Fitness on Demand Classes. Using the Challenge app, scan-in any of the QR Codes that are located at the Fitness Center Desk, Racquet Center, and Spa Desk. (DL)

 

For the digital audience, use your local health club or do your daily workout at home and find the QR code here and using the scan in feature in the Challenge app to earn your bonus steps.

Healthy Living Videos – Need a break in your hotel room or at home over the next 3 days?  Enjoy these in-app wellbeing videos throughout the EduCon experience thanks to Discover Puerto Rico and Lizzy Williamson, Founder and Author of Two Minute Moves (DL)

Bonus Steps: max 2 per day x 1,000 x 3 days = 6,000 steps

  • July 7 - Breathing (8 minutes) – Controlling your breath is the quickest way to way to help you relax and maintain your focus and concentration.  Pranayama breathing is a main component of yoga to help quite the mind. Leaving you feeling relaxed!

  • July 7 - Walking Break (2 minutes) - If you think you don’t have enough time for a walk, this break is going to bust your excuses. Discover some fun ways to get your steps up, boost your creative output and increase your fitness in only 2-minutes. 

  • July 8 - Meditation (8 minutes) - This meditation will bring you inward and allow you to disconnect and focus on you to produce peace and calmness within your mind and body.

  • July 8 - Easy Stretch Break (2 minutes) - Sitting for hours in front of a screen can cause your body to become stiff and uncomfortable which can be very distracting. To keep your body free from aches and pains, Lizzy has 2-minutes of easy stretches that your body and posture will thank you for. A great tool to take back to your busy day. 

 

  • July 9 - Get-Up-&-Move Break (2 minutes) - Your energy can naturally start to dip throughout the day and that’s when it can be tempting to go for that third cup of coffee or sugary snack. To help get your oxygen flowing and stay away from the sugar rollercoaster, Lizzy puts on a great song and gets you up for some non-impact movement eg. walking on the spot.

 

  • July 9 - Dance Break (2 minutes) - When we get physically active, our body produces serotonin (feel-good hormone) which helps counteract cortisol (stress hormone). What better way to get your energy up and put a smile on your face than breaking out into some old school dance moves to a great song.

Gratitude Journal – within the Challenge app, log 3 things you are grateful for or the positive events that have happened in your day.  Practice journaling for your mind daily can lower your stress levels and make you feel calmer at night.  (DL)

Bonus Steps: max 1 per day x 1,000 per day x 3 days = 3,000 steps

 

2. Social Wellbeing – Caring for others

 

Conversation Starters - Connecting with other attendees at the Conversation Starter stations and scan-in the QR code to earn bonus steps. (DL)

Location: PCMA Connect (Grand Canyon Foyer) & The Hub (Grand Canyon 6)

Digital Location:  Online.  Schedule for digital sessions available here.

At the end of each online session, find the QR code here and using the scan in feature in the Challenge app to earn your bonus steps.

Scan-In for Bonus Steps: max 5 per day x 500 per activity x 2 days = 5,000 steps

Connect via Social Media -  The Wellbeing Challenge app has the integrated Twitter and Facebook modules.  Throughout, EduCon, share photos of you participating in the EduCon activities or any of the EduCon Wellbeing Challenge activities. The module auto-tags #PCMAEC and grants the bonus steps. Users can post as often as they like. (DL) 

Bonus Steps: max 1 per day x 1,000 x 3 days = 3,000 steps

 

Caring for others by giving back - Participate in the HHH Wheelchair build for Paralyzed Veterans America. After the event, scan in for bonus steps awarded. Event to be held Thursday, July 8 - 3:30 – 5:00 pm.  (L)

3. Environmental Wellbeing - Caring for the earth

 

Reduce CO2 Emission - Track estimated reduction of your group’s carbon footprint for every step. Track real time emission reduction estimate on leaderboard and provide data on reduced emission equivalents. This will be on the leader board and support the Environmental effort. Not a bonus steps redeemer.  Knowledge of the impact.

Plogging - is a combination of jogging with picking up litter. As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting and stretching to the main action of running, hiking, or walking. Earn Bonus steps by using the Challenge app's integrated Twitter and Facebook modules and sharing on social media. (DL)

 

Hydration Stations – Fill your water bottle up and reduce waste.  Scan the QR codes at various water stations located within the PCMA meeting space. (L)

Scan-In for Bonus Steps:  max 4 per day x 250 steps per fill x 3 days = 3,000 steps

4. Career Wellbeing – Caring for your career

  • Write down 3 career goals with in the online form at the beginning of the event and at the end. (DL)

  • Scan-In for Bonus Steps: max 2 entries x 2,500 steps per entry =  5,000 steps

  •  

5. Financial Wellbeing - Caring for the financial future of the industry

  •  

  • PCMA Foundation Connect Lounge - Stop by the Lounge to learn how to advance the events industry. Location: Grand Canyon Foyer (DL)

  • Scan-in for Bonus Steps: max 1 per day x 1,000 steps x 3 days = 3,000 steps

      To donate to the PCMA Foundation:

  1. Following this link or

  2. Text to 41444 with the following message format: ECWELL (Amount) (Name) ... for example: ECWELL 50 Jane Doe

For the digital audience, please find the QR code here and using the scan in feature in the Challenge app to earn your bonus steps.

2021 PCMA EDUCON WELLBEING LEADERBOARD

Check out your status anytime on the Leaderboard. 

 

The Leaderboard (also available within the app) is refreshed approximately every 10 minutes once the Challenge has started.

  1. On the Challenge app's main dashboard, tap the Bonus Activities selector.

  2. Press the Scan-InFacebookTweet, or the Gratitude button and follow the app instruction to receive your bonus steps.
