IASLC Wellness Challenge 2024 


The IALSC Wellness Challenge is a four-day activity challenge held in conjunction with IASLC’s World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC). To encourage participation and engagement with our on-site opportunities, registration is limited to those attending WCLC in person. 

Your step count will be converted to points that create opportunities to win prizes and engage in some friendly competition with your peers. Each participant will be added to a team by region, celebrating our global community.

 
The IASLC Wellness Challenge starts on Saturday, September 7 at 00:01 PST and ends on Tuesday, September 10 at 18:00 PST.

1) Download the IASLC Wellness Challenge 2024 app (AVAILABLE AUG 2024):

2) Set up your Challenge Account:

  • Launch the Challenge app and complete the in-app registration

  • Join your Team, and compete against other Teams based on average points. View the Team rankings along with the rankings of your teammates in the Team Leaderboard.

  • Pair your supported activity tracker 

3) Start Stepping!

  • To sync your step data to the app, select 'Tap to sync points' at the top of the dashboard

  • Please sync your step data at least one time per 24 hour period and before the Challenge end time to make sure all your steps count!

4) Connect

  • Stop by the Wellness Challenge booth in the exhibit hall to get your Challenge pin to identify you to fellow Challengers so you can "Social Connect" with them to earn bonus points.

IASLC WELLNESS CHALLENGE GUIDELINES

 

The IASLC Wellness Challenge is complimentary for all participants. Consider showing appreciation for the Challenge with a donation to the IASLC. You can donate as many times as you like. You will be rewarded with 3,000 bonus points per day for each donation made during the Challenge! 

Engage in multiple activities to earn points and achieve your wellness goals. Once the Challenge has started, you will receive points for each completed activity.

 

STEPS POINTS

Your activity tracker will count your steps but steps are not the only way to participate. You can use the in app bonus activities and other wellness activities listed below to earn points. Every activity counts! 

Your daily steps and activities will be converted into points. One step = one point.

BONUS WELLNESS ACTIVITIES 

 

Bank a few more points to climb up the leaderboard. Once the Challenge has started, your will earn bonus points for each completed activity. Select the Bonus Activities button ** at the bottom of the Challenge App to claim your points:

 

Donate to the IASLC FoundationDonate in the Wellness Challenge app or visit the Wellness Challenge Booth in the exhibit hall to donate.

 

Support innovative research and receive 5,000 bonus points per donation of $50 USD or more. You can donate as many times as you like!

Scan-In: Visit the locations below and use the in-app Scan bonus activity module to scan the QR codes to earn bonus points during the Challenge:

1. Johnson and Johnson (Booth #1800): Scan the QR code located at the Johnson and Johnson booth in the exhibit hall for 2,000 bonus points each day.

2. Jazz - Research Grant Supporter (Booth #1018): Scan the QR code located at the Jazz booth in the exhibit hall for 1,000 bonus points each day.

3. Merck - Research Grant Supporter (Booth #1818): Scan the QR code located at the Merck booth in the exhibit hall for 1,000 bonus points each day.


4. Astra Zeneca - DEI Champion (Booth #1000): Scan the QR code located at the Astra Zeneca booth in the exhibit hall for 1,000 bonus points each day.

5. Gather Voices Video: Record a video at the Gather Voices station near the Social Media Wall for a one-time bonus of 3,000 points.

6Explore the Poster Gallery in the Convention Center to discover QR codes that earn you 1,000 bonus points each day.

7. Special Plenary Session: Earn 2,000 points by joining the session - 50 Years of IASLC: Reflecting on the Past, Embracing the Present, Shaping the Future - Sunday, 9/10 17:00-18:00

8. IASLC Business Meeting: Attend the IASLC Business meeting on Tuesday, 9/10 at 10:45 and earn a one-time bonus of 3,000 points.

9. Journal of Thoracic Oncology: Check out our renowned publications JTO and JTO-CRR for a QR code worth 1,500 bonus points each day.

Johnson & Johnson Video: Watch the two Johnson & Johnson in-app video and receive 1,000 bonus points per day.

Social Connect: earn 500 bonus points per connection (up to 50 total connections). Just stop by the Wellness Challenge Booth to pick up your Challenge pin to identify you to fellow Challengers and then connect with them via your Challenge app and learn what they are interested in learning from others at this event.

Daily "Celebrate Wellness" Video: Watch the daily featured video and you will receive 1,000 bonus points per day at the end of each video.

  • ​Day 1 (Sep 7) - Dr. Narjust Florez reminds us to eat well and get some sleep! 

  • Day 2 (Sep 8) - Dr. Morten Quist on regular exercise for wellness 

  • Day 3 (Sep 9- Rodrigo chooses an active lifestyle 

  • Day 4 (Sep 10- Dr. Ayse Ugurum Yucemen shares ways to improve wellbeing 

Yoga: Follow along with the in-app yoga video session and you will receive 1,000 bonus points per day at the end of each session.

Gratitude Audio: Take a few minutes out of your busy day and listen to the guided Gratitude Audio and try to notice and reflect upon things you are thankful for. You will automatically receive 1,000 bonus points at the end of the audio (limit of one bonus grant per participant).

Gratitude Journal: Take a few minutes out of your day for gratitude and mindfulness. Using the in-app Gratitude Journal, log 3 things you are grateful for each day to help lower stress and promote calmness in your life.  You will automatically receive 2,000 bonus points for completing your daily journal entries (limit of one bonus granted per day).

Activity Log: You can do more than walk to work your way up the Challenge Leaderboard! Engage in various other fitness activities ranging from running to stretching, cycling to swimming, and more. Look up the activity in the Challenge app and log the time you spent doing the activity to receive the equivalent points.  Limit of one activity log entry per day.

5K: Complete your 5K run and report your finish time using the in-app log. You can complete and enter as many 5K times as you like between 9/7-9/10 as see where you rank on the separate 5K leaderboard. You also receive an exclusive collectable IASLC 2024 Wellness Challenge T-Shirt for completing your 5K!

Daily Top Achiever Prizes ***

Top 10 point achievers for each day of the Challenge will be in a drawing for an Oura Ring. Limit of one Oura Ring prize per person.

Challenge Goal Prizes

All participants that reach a cumulative Challenge Goal points total listed below can come to the Wellness Challenge booth to claim their prizes:

  • 10,000+ Points: Wellness Challenge achievement pin

  • 25,000+ Points: Packable Hat

  • 50,000+ Points: Travel Exercise Set

  • 75,000+ Points:  Duffel Bag and Yoga Mat Set

The first 25 participants that reach the cumulative Challenge Goal points listed below will receive the following special achievement prize:

 

  • 100,000+ Points: IASLC x Converse (while supplies last)

Regional Teams

The winning team members (based on average points per team with a minimum of 3 members per team) receive 5,000 bonus points credited to next year's challenge. 

5K Prize ***

Complete the app-guided 5K to receive an exclusive collectable IASLC 2024 Wellness Challenge T-Shirt.

Daily Engagement Prizes ***

Stop by the Wellness Challenge booth in the Exhibit Hall and pick up a pair of IASLC Non-Slip Sport and Yoga Socks.  There will be a limited number distributed each day on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a limit of one pair of socks per person.

Final Leaderboard and Regional Team prize winners will be drawn after WCLC closes at 17:30 PST on 9/10 and announced via email and on the mobile event app by Friday 9/13. Daily Top Achiever Prize drawing winners will be announced on the following day via email and in the Wellness Challenge app. 

Final Leaderboard Prize

All participants that are on the final cumulative leaderboard (top 25 achievers) will be entered into a drawing to win a 3‐Night Weekday Package for 2 at The Setting Inn in California’s Napa Valley which includes:

  • Airfaire

  • Chauffeured luxury sedan

  • Daily breakfast

  • Private tasting of The Setting Wines at Bacchus Landing
